RePurpose for a Purpose gala helps raise funds for Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Island will hold its second design challenge, RePurpose for a Purpose, to help raise funds to help people become homeowners.

Finished spaces will be judged and auctioned off at annual event

Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward Island will hold its second design challenge, RePurpose for a Purpose,to help raise funds to help people become homeowners.

Design teams will takepre-selected packages of furniture and items fromHabitat for Humanity'sReStoretoarrange in a 10-by-10-footspace at the Oct. 22 gala atMemorial Hall in the Confederation Centre of the Arts.

"This event combines the excitement of live competition. Thinkart battle, with the ever-popular hobby of do-it-yourself design and refinishing," said Becky Mullen, Habitat PEI's executive director in a press release.

"This event is for arts and culture lovers, fordo-it-yourselfers, forReStoreshoppers, workshophavers, and project lovers."

The teams canrepurposeor refinish the items any way they want.

The finished spaces will be completed at the gala and thenjudged and auctioned off. Theproceeds will assistwith house building efforts in 2017.
