Hal Mills, founder of The Dunk, dead at 73
Hal Mills home became an accidental musical venue
Hal Mills, founder of a rural P.E.I. musical venue that quickly became something of a legend in the province, has died at the age of 73.
In 2008 Catherine MacLellan played a house concert there, and suddenly Mills was getting calls from other artists about house concerts.
"I hear that it is unique," Mills told CBC News about The Dunk in 2010.
"They like the feel of the place. We have quite a few, mainly community people, who are repeat visitors here, enjoyers of music and who know music quite well, so they get a very responsive and knowledgeable audience."
Mills's daughters say a musical celebration of his life will be held at some point in the future.
