The Halifax Rainmen are heading to the National Basketball League of Canada's finals after beating the Island Storm in overtime 125-116 Monday night in Halifax.
Game five was a feisty affair as multiple players fouled out and two players were even ejected.
The Storm were leading 54-36 at halftime, but the Rainmen narrowed the gap to just one point after scoring 38 points in the third quarter to trail 75-74.
The game bore a strong resemblance to the fourth game of the series when the Storm built up a large lead at halftime and nearly blew it.
The fourth quarter of last night's game had a different outcome though. After multiple lead changes, the teams were tied at 104 at the end of regulation.
The Rainmen won the series 4-1 and now await the winners of the series between the Windsor Express and Brampton A's.
Kevin Young led the Rainmen in scoring and had 26 points and 12 rebounds, while P.J. Foster was clutch from beyond the arc, scoring 15 of his 19 points by way of three pointers.
The Island Storm were led by Nick Okorie, who put up 35 points. Brandon Robinson had 27 points and 10 rebounds.
The game was played in front of a near-capacity crowd at Saint Mary's University because the Rainmen's normal home court is playing host to the world men's curling championship.
