Brian McMillan, Holland College president, takes leave of absence
School spokesperson says leave related to drinking and driving charge
Holland College's president BrianMcMillanwill be taking a two-month leave of absence, according to a news release from the school.
The announcement comes a month afterMcMillanwas charged with drinking and driving. A Holland College spokesperson confirmedthe leave is related to that charge.
Holland College board chairKent Scales said the decision was McMillan's.
"Dr. McMillan made an official request to the Holland College Board of Governors for a leave of absence and the Board approved his request. He has initiated counselling which he will continue during his leave.We look forward to his return," said Scales in a release.
The leave is effective starting Monday.
Grant Canvin, the school's vice-president ofcorporate services and administration, has been appointed acting president.
