Plans are in the works to build a permanent display to honour Holman's Department Store.

A show and tell event will be held at the Holman Centre in Summerside, P.E.I., June 21.

Descendant Peter Holman is with the Summerside and Area Historical Society and has organized the event. He is hoping to collect souvenirs, photos, and mementos of the store to create displays throughout the Holman Centre.

"R.T..Holman Limited was the largest employer in P.E.I. for many, many, many years. It had as many as 798 employees," said Holman.

"It's where old friends meet, as the slogan that went around. Every Friday night people would come from the country and it became a gathering place for old friends that meet and catch up on all the local gossip."

The event will be held in the Summerside Farmer's Market area of the building.
