Police in Kensington, P.E.I., say they first saw the motorcycle on School Street at about 10:30 p.m. local time Saturday, driving an estimated 100 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

Officers turned on their cruiser's lights and siren but the driver didn't stop. Police decided it wasn't safe to pursue the motorcycle because the street was under construction.

A short while later, police say they saw the motorcycle again in the Sunset Drive area, this time going an estimated 90 km/h in a 40 km/h zone.

When police turned on lights and siren, the bike turned onto the lawn of a nearby home.

Police say they spoke briefly with the driver before he sped off and officers once again decided it wasn't safe to chase the bike, but this time they were able to identify the driver.

At about 11:15 p.m., police say they stopped a vehicle known to be driven by the suspect and a 22-year-old man was arrested.

Police also impounded a motorcycle from the driveway of a home in Freetown.

The 22-year-old faces charges of dangerous driving and flight from police under the Criminal Code, and was issued three Highway Traffic Act tickets.

He is scheduled to appear in court to face the charges on Dec. 17.
