Kensington looks to replace problematic sidewalk

The Town of Kensington is applying to the P.E.I. government's infrastructure program for funding to replace a troublesome sidewalk.

Town hopes to start construction in August

The Town of Kensington is applying to the P.E.I. government's infrastructure program for funding to replace a troublesome sidewalk.

The sidewalk runs for about 100 metres from the main intersection in town towards Summerside.

"This particular section of sidewalk is badly deteriorated. It's a difficult piece of sidewalk to maintain from a snow-clearing perspective," said Geoff Baker, chief administrative officer for the town.

That's because the sidewalk is a little over a metre wide, while the town's sidewalk plows are designed for sidewalks about 1.5 metres wide.

The town has applied for $63,000 from the province, and hopes to start work next month.
