A P.E.I. musician is putting on a set of rare performances in Hunter River, partially thanks to a young Islandtriathlete.

Singer-songwriter Kris Taylor, who co-owns the Harmony House Theatre, will be playing there twice next week. That includes a fundraiser for Martin Sobey, a triathlete he coached at the Canada Games in 2013.

He hasbeen toying with the idea ofreturning to the stage for a while now.

"I'm at the theatre a lot and I constantly get asked when am I going to play again? And I had somebody put me on the spot this spring and I said, 'Okay, I'll do one this fall,'"Taylor told CBC Radio'sMainstreetP.E.I.

Offset the struggle

So he planned adate at the theatre for Nov. 12.About a month ago, he decided to add another date on Nov. 10,this onea fundraiser for Sobey.

"Martin's a special kid," Taylor said."He just had that extra thing that he was dedicated."

Taylor said Sobeyis now training with the national team and has Olympic potential accomplishments that comewith a price tag.

"There's always a struggle there for athletes," said Taylor, who used to race bikes in his teens. "You might need a new tire for the next race but where are you going to come up with $70? You know, you've got to put groceries in the fridge."

He is hoping the athletic community will come out so they will be able to offset some of the costs for Sobey.

Taylor plans to playsome new songs, as well as music from his past three albums.
