Almost a dozen P.E.I. landowners have signed up to create "butterfly way-stations."

The Bedeque Bay Environmental Management Association has signed up almost a dozen landowners on Prince Edward Island to help create a resting spot for butterflies.

The waystations are especially important for Monarch butterflies, a species at risk.

In exchange for free plants and labour, 11 landowners on the Island have agreed to donate property.

Their fields will be added to a database of more than 6,000 other monarch waystations registered on an international website.
