The P.E.I. Fishermen's Association says there are a couple of lobster processing plants on the Island that have put some boats on a quota, but that's being assessed on a daily basis.

Executive director Ian MacPherson stresses it is not a province wide quota. He saidsome lobster boats in the North Lake area have been put on a 1,000 pound per day limit.

He saidthe association would like to not see any quotas, but understands there are some challenges for processors.

"You know this tends to be the busy part of our season," said MacPherson. "The water is getting warmer and the catches have picked up since the start of the season. So it's a management measure by some of the local plants."

"With some of the challenges with staffing and things like that, you know we need to work together as an industry."

MacPherson saidcatches continue to be slow on the south side of the Island.
