National Aboriginal Day celebration happening on Lennox Island

The Mi'kmaq Confederacy of P.E.I. is hosting a National Aboriginal Day celebration on Lennox Island Saturday afternoon for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.

The two-day event is open to both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people

National Aboriginal Day is celebrated on June 21.

The Mi'kmaq Confederacy of P.E.I. is hosting a National Aboriginal Day celebration on Lennox Island Saturday afternoon for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.

"It's an opportunity for First Nations people to be proud of their culture, but it's also a really important opportunity for non-Aboriginal people to be welcomed to explore those things," said Nicole Herbert, the special events co-ordinator with the Confederacy.

The celebrations continue Sunday in Charlottetown at Confederation Landing Park.

Sunday's events are organized by the Native Council of P.E.I.
