The City of Charlottetown has hired a company to design new additions for Victoria Park.

The city will build a pavilion and new entrance way to the park this summer. It's paying Red Oak Landscaping $35,000 to design the two projects.

Coun. Melissa Hilton, chair of the parks and recreation committee, said the pavilion will be part of big changes in the area across the road from the cannons.

"We're going to be closing down that middle road. It's going to become a trail or a grass area," said Hilton.

"The pavilion's not going to be a grand, large, you know, band shell. It's going to be ...gazebo style. It'll be a place for gathering, picnic area."

Hilton hopes to see designs soon so the proposal can go to a public meeting. The city doesn't know yet how much the two projects will cost.
