P.E.I. harness racer misses big prize

A harness racer from P.E.I. who was nominated for a major national award may not have taken home the prize, but he still had a great year.

Marc Campbell, who hails from Orwell,was in therunning for the O'Brien Award for Horsemanship, the most prestigious award in Canadian harness racing.

Alberta's Keith Clark won the prize at an award ceremony heldSaturday night in Mississauga, Ont.

Nevertheless, Campbell is still a winner. He broke a 24-year record for 119 wins in one season at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Last year, he won 174 races and as a horse trainer, he had 57 wins.

Campbell is just 27 years old and is the youngest harness racer ever to be nominated.
