P.E.I.'s newest microbrewery hoping to start pouring beer in June

A new brewery, Moth Lane Brewing, is being built in Western P.E.I. It will be located in Ellerslie, just outside of Tyne Valley and will be the first microbrewery in Prince County.

Owner says he is making a hobby into an enjoyable job

A new brewery, Moth Lane Brewing, is being built in Western P.E.I.

Owner Eric Wagner said getting involved in the brewing business was an obvious choice, because of how popular craft beer has become on the East Coast.

"Well I mean something was changing. Look at the craft beer scene in Nova Scotia right now, or New Brunswick, or Maine. It's exploded," said Wagner.

"So it started me [to] think, 'well, you know what? I always like changing up a little bit. Maybe I could make my hobby into a job and enjoy the next 30 years of my life'."

Wagner says he hopes to have Moth Lane Brewing open by June. He received $25,000 from Innovation PEI through the Ignition Fund, a competition for entrepreneurs seeking startup funding.
