Some veterans from Stratford, P.E.I.,are being honouredin the lead up to Remembrance Daywith posters on the town's bus shelters.

Each poster features a different veteran who fought in the First World Waror Second World War. The veterans' pictures were selected to represent the various branches of the armed forces: army, navy and air force.

Local advertisers are giving up their paid space on the shelters for the two weeks leading up to Nov. 11.

Doug Kelly, chair of the Stratford Heritage Committee, said 16 veterans will be featured on the bus shelter posters. Each was either born in Stratford, enlisted from there, or lived there after the war.

Kelly said the bus shelters will put the world in perspective for people who think they're having a bad day in traffic.

"We can think of the sacrifice they gave," he said. "And the hardships they had to put up with really make our daily commutes small in comparison."

Kelly hopes this will bean annual event with other veterans to be honoured in future years.
