The receiver appointed to manage a Charlottetown nursing home says it's business as usual while they try to find a new buyer for the facility.

We're operating the facility for the benefit of the current residents, for the benefit of the employees.- David Boyd, PricewaterhouseCoopers

Park West Lodge is a 42-bed community care and nursing care facility on Richmond Street which was owned by Sherwood Holdings until its main shareholder died a year ago.

The company tried to sell the home, but there were no takers. PricewaterhouseCoopers was appointed as the court-ordered receiver and manager of the facility in April.

Senior vice president David Boyd said the company intends to run the facility with no impact on residents until a new buyer is found.

'Normal course of business'

"We're operating the facility for the benefit of the current residents, for the benefit of the employees," he said.

"[And] to ensure that we meet the Department of Health guidelines with regards to operating a nursing home. So that it's the normal course of business at this stage."

Boyd said the company has met with residents and management to keep them updated.

"This process is really to find a new operator for the facility, that wants to buy the facility, the land, buildings and obviously seek and obtain a nursing home licence from the province of P.E.I.," he said.

Boyd said the ideal situation would be a seamless transition from the old owner to PricewaterhouseCoopers and then to a new owner.
