Steamy summer nights forecast for P.E.I.

It may have been a cool spring so far on P.E.I., but Accuweather is forecasting a warmer than usual summer for P.E.I. with little relief from the heat in the overnight hours.

It may have been a cool spring so far on P.E.I., but Accuweather is forecasting a warmer than usual summer for P.E.I. with little relief from the heat in the overnight hours.

Accuweather is predicting a warmerthan usual summer across the country, including the east coast. High humidity could keep temperatures high on P.E.I. even after the sun goes down.

"Atlantic Canada will end up with a warmer summer compared to normal," said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Brett Anderson in a news release.

While it will be warmer than usual, most of the region will avoid some of the more extreme weather expected in other parts of the country, including drought in Alberta and storms in southern Ontario and Quebec.

Some of that stormy weather may extend into central New Brunswick. There is also an increased chance of a tropical storm hitting the region late in the summer.
