Tyne Valley businesswoman Carol Rybinski will represent the NDP in the P.E.I. riding of Egmont in next federal election.

Rybinski was nominated last December, the first Island candidate of any political party to be selected to run in the election, which will take place on or before Oct. 20, 2025.

Rybinski owns and operates the Tyne Valley Teas Caf. She is past president of the West Prince Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the P.E.I. Women's Business Association. She is also a board member with Friends of Tyne Valley Library, and chair of the promotions committee of the Summerside Community Choir.

"I want to join with Jagmeet Singh and Canada's New Democrats to fight for pharmacare, dental care, and a decent standard of living for the people of Egmont, and the Island," Rybinski said in a news release after accepting the nomination.

Rybinski lives in Tyne Valley with her husband Charles Turriff and their sons James and Connor.
