Historic wishing well damaged, money stolen from bottom: Police

Police are on the lookout for someone with large sums of muddy, corroded coins after a break-in at a wishing well in Cavendish, P.E.I.

RCMP were called Dec. 2 to the National Historic Site Site in Cavendish, where they found damage to a well that was dug in the 1800s and is now used as a wishing well.

Unknown amount stolen

The well was damaged so the culprit, or culprits, could gain access to the bottom of the well where an unknown amount of money was stolen.

"Someone may have a large amount of coins which may be muddy, dirty and possibly corroded from being at the bottom of the well for a long period of time," RCMP said in a release.

Anyone with information that may help the investigation is asked to call Queens RCMP at 902 368-9300.
