An Island artist has been nominated for two international awards he calls "the Oscars of comic books."

Troy Little's graphic novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was nominated for a Harvey Award. This comes two months after it was nominated for an Eisner Award.

"Both the Harvey and Eisner are real pinnacles, it's kind of the Oscars of comic books," he said. "Just even having your name nominated to me is kind of mind blowing."

Hunter S. Thompson novel

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is a graphic adaptation of the novel written by Hunter S. Thompson in 1971.

For the Harvey, Little is nominated in the Best Graphic Album Original category. For the Eisner, he is nominated in the Best Lettering category.

"It's just something you're really proud of to say that you're in that calibre of talent of people making some some of the best comics and graphic novels out there," he said.
