COVID-19 on P.E.I.: What's happening Friday, April 17

No new COVID-19 cases for P.E.I. Friday, Northumberland Ferries has delayed the start of their season and the P.E.I. Fishermen's Association is taking a vote on whether or not to delay the spring lobster season.

There were no new cases of COVID-19 announced on Friday, and 118 negativetest resultshave come back since Thursday's briefing.

Northumberland Ferries has delayed the start of its season until at least June 1.

The Prince Edward Island Fishermen's Association is taking a vote among its members on whether to delay the opening of lobster season to either May 6 or May 13.

P.E.I. Premier Dennis King sayslobster fishermen are being asked to make an impossible choice and Ottawa needs to step up and support them.

Official Opposition leader Peter Bevan-Baker is calling for a higher degree of oversight after the governmentdeclared a state of emergencyin response to COVID-19 Thursday.
