COVID-19 on P.E.I.: What's happening Tuesday, April 28

P.E.I. has one new confirmed case of COVID-19, Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Heather Morrison announced Tuesday.

Morrison said the case is a man in his 50s and is related to international travel. She said he is self-isolating at home.

Morrison said the new case is an important reminder the illness hasn't gone away, and that easing restrictions is not without risk.

She also noted P.E.I. has the second lowest number of cases per capita, with no community spread and that the Island still has no hospitalizations or deaths related to COVID-19.

The province also announced a plan to gradually ease restrictions in the province.

The 2020 Cavendish Beach Music Festival has been cancelled because of COVID-19.

Epidemiologists are advising P.E.I. to keep control of its borders when it begins easing pandemic restrictions.
