The victim of a fatal highway accident Monday morning in Christopher Cross in western P.E.I. has been identified as Diane Arsenault.

Poor road conditions have been blamed for the crash that killed the 59-year-old of Palmer Road.

Arsenault died at the scene after the car she was driving collided with a pickup truck on Highway 14, north of Tignish. The car left the road, overturned and caught on fire.

An RCMP collision analyst concluded poor road conditions caused the driver of the car to lose control.

RCMP reported icy conditions in both Prince and Queens counties at the time.

RCMP say the man who was driving the truck is now in hospital in Charlottetown with leg injuries.

The funeral for Arsenault is scheduled to take place Thursday morning at St. Simon and St. Jude church in Tignish.
