Dennis King joins P.E.I. PC leadership race

Dennis King has formally entered the race to lead Prince Edward Island's Progressive Conservative Party.

King announced his official campaign launch at the King's Playhouse in GeorgetownWednesday evening.

"More than anything, I'm advocating for a change in style and approach," said King.

"Elected officials are wasting too much time on partisan issues and people want us to do it differently."

High-speed internet, caps on class sizes

King said P.E.I. needs provincewide high-speed internet.He also wants to see a cap on school class sizes to avoid overcrowding andsaid there needs to be regular reviews of the school curriculum.

King also hadideas about the province's energy consumption.

"We need to set hard targets of consuming a fixed percentage of our energy from renewable sources and we need to make those targets binding," said King.

King was a communications director for former premier Pat Binns, and is currently the executive director of the Prince Edward Island Seafood Processors Association.

He is the second person to join the race. Allan Dale was the first to announce last week.
