Fire marshal investigating Dunstaffnage house fire

The fire marshal is currently investigating a fire that destroyed a house on Sunset Lane in Dunstaffnage, P.E.I., Thursday night.

The fire marshal is currently investigating a fire that destroyed a house in Dunstaffnage, P.E.I., Thursday night.

The house had two occupants, neither of whom were home at the time of the fire, according to the fire marshal's office.

The Red Cross described the occupants as a young couple, and said one of their employers covered hotel accommodation for them for a few days. The Red Cross helped with emergency purchases of clothing, food and other essentials.

According to police, the fire was discovered by an RCMP officer on patrol. OneRCMPofficer was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.
