Veterans Affairs to reopen Charlottetown district office by May

The Department of Veterans Affairs district office in Charlottetown will open sometime between now and May 2017, according to the DVA.

The Charlottetown office was closed in January 2014 by the previous federal government. It and eight others across the country are set to reopen over the next 10 months at a cost of $78 million.

Veterans Affairs Minister Kent Hehr was in Corner Brook, Nfld., Tuesday cutting the ribbon on the office that just reopened there.

The Liberal government also committed to hiring 400 new DVA employees and say case workers will have a caseload of 25 veterans maximum.
