The East Pointers win Canadian folk music award

P.E.I. band The East Pointers won Ensemble of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards in Toronto Saturday night.

Band wins Ensemble of the Year for debut album Secret Victory

P.E.I. band The East Pointers won Ensemble of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards in Toronto Saturday night.

The band, which features Tim Chaisson on fiddle, Jake Charron on guitar and Koady Chaisson on banjo, won for their debut album Secret Victory.

According to The East Pointers' Facebook page, the men are on a "wee vacay" and were not present to accept the award.

The East Pointers were also nominated for Instrumental Group of the Year.

Two other P.E.I. groups were nominated for Canadian Folk Music Awards but didn`t win. Ten Strings and a Goat Skin were up for four awards, and Vishtn was nominated for one.
