Road closed after vehicle catches on fire on Trans-Canada Highway in Stratford, P.E.I.
Witnesses reported hearing small explosions
The Trans-Canada Highway just east of Reeves Boulevard in Stratford, P.E.I.,is closedafter a Jeep Cherokee caught on fire.
RCMP say the closure should last one to two hours.Motorists can detour around Mount Herbert or Alexandra.
Witnesses reported hearing small explosions as firefighters from the Crossroads Fire Department worked to extinguish the fireat about 7:15p.m.
RCMP Const. Laurie Boutiliersaid a woman and her daughter were returning from Montague when the lights in the vehicle began flashing. They pulled over and got out safely before the vehicle caught fire, Boutilier said.
