You now have just one week to come up with a killer Halloween costume.

Zombies are fine, but why not try something different this year? A blonde bob wig, some extra large pearls and a power suit? Hi Hillary!

Splatter some overalls with paint, grab a brush and a palette and you're a painter!

Dollar-store wings, sparkles and a pretty dress, and you're a fairy.

You might actually have almost everything you need just add someimagination, and get inspired by thislist of easy costume ideas.

1. Rosie the Riveter

Feeling like the world could use afeminist super-hero lately? The timing might never have been better to embodythis classic symbol of female empowerment. Adetailed tutorial is above, by the blogvintageortacky.

All you need is bright red lipstick, a red bandana and a rolled-up denim shirt. You can just wear jeans and work or short lace-up boots. You could also add a cardboard "pin" with Rosie's motto "We Can Do It!"

Like many female-themed costumes, this idea could be extra-humorous in my opinion if worn by a man. It might also be fun to go with friends as a group of Rosies.

2. Crazy cat lady

You don't have to be an adorable little grade-school girl to carry off the crazy cat lady costume, but it helps. (Courtesy of craftymorning.com)

This is another easy-as-pie idea all you need is a bathrobe and some cat stuffies. You,or someone you enlist to help, willneed to be ableto sew a few stitches to attach the kitties.

You could add on lots of different accessories: velcro hair rollers, bright lipstick, baby powder to make hair grey, and cat-eye glasses.

Some versions also include handbags or shopping carts stuffed with cats, or a cat-themed sweater and trousers with cats stitched to look like they're crawling up the legs. Follow a tutorial hereat craftymorning.

3. Scarecrow

The easiest of all the Wizard of Oz costumes: the scarecrow. (thejoyoffashionblog.com)

The Joy of Fashion's blogshows a very cutefemale scarecrow, but you could adjust this costume to be as simple or as scary as you'd like.

All you really need is a plaid shirt (what self-respecting Maritimer doesn't have one) jeans and a hat. Glue in a bit of straw or hay from the dollar store, or froma field sticking out from the cuffs andfront of the shirt, the top of your bootsand the edge of your hat.

You can add some scarecrow makeup described in theblog, and a sprig of fakesunflowers from the dollar storewill make it look like you're fresh out of Old MacDonald'sfield!

4. Risky Business

If you want to be accurate, you'll note Tom Cruise's shirt was pale pink-and-white-striped, not white. (YouTube/youaretheroots.com)

An oversized menswear shirt with a popped collar, tidy whities and white tube socks, and you're Tom Cruise in Risky Business circa 1983.

Don't forget a brass candlestick to sing Bob Seger'sOld Time Rock &Roll.

Some may call this the laziest, over-done DIY costume, but it can be fun orsexy orhumorous especially humorous if worn by a baby.

5. Strawberry

The only tricky part of this strawberry costume is the green headpiece. (studiodiy.com)

The dress in thisstrawberry costume can be changed out for a t-shirt and pants if you like. There's a step-by-step tutorial that doesn't seem too tricky on theblogstudiodiy.com. A friend could dressas shortcake or whipped cream, or add a pineapple and some grapes and your groupcould be a fruit bowl.
