RCMP on P.E.I. are reminding Islanders in advance of busy Halloween weekend of the dangers of drinking and driving.

"This type of irresponsible behaviour is inexcusable at any time, but as Halloween approaches, police are aware that it is typically a busy time of the year for parties and other events for both adults and children," said RCMP Sgt. Leanne Butler in a news release.

"We're planning a very visible presence. Drivers are reminded to obey the law when it comes to driving, or face serious consequences."

RCMP noted they had made four drinking and driving arrests in Queens County in the last week. In two of those cases the drivers were at close to twice the legal limit. In one, where the driver had missed a turn and driven onto someone's front lawn, a Charlottetown man was found to be almost three times the legal limit.
