Shirley Millar has a huge collection of sea glass, but nothing compares to the piece she found earlier this month.

She was walking along the beach by her home in Seacow Pond with her husband and her dog on October 11th, the day after the Thanksgiving Monday storm, when something caught her eye.

"There was a little bit of kelp and different seaweeds sort of surrounding it but it was kind of sticking up in the air," Millar explained.

"I saw this figure in it and I thought it was just like a little bit of seaweed or something on it."

Millar rubbed the piece of sea glass against her pants and noticed there was a crucifix on it.

She took it home and showed her neighbour who is a priest, who explained the letters INRI are Latin for 'Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews'.

Her neighbour believes a crucifix was embedded face down into molten glass.

Millar says finding this sea glass does hold some religious significance.

"I was kind of questioning things in my life concerning religion, and that kind of popped up within two weeks, that I had this on my mind," she said. "I don't know if it means anything or not, I guess it means something to me."

"I wouldn't call it a sign, but you can take it that way I guess, being as I found it."

Millar says she plans on keeping it.

"It could make a nice medallion or something but I like the feel of it in my hands."

This adds to an already impressive sea glass collection.

Millar says this is the most beautiful piece of sea glass she has ever found. (Submitted by Shirley Millar)

"We collect different pieces, right now I have so many pieces I'm starting to make mobiles of them."

"This is the most beautiful piece ever. I find nice pieces of glass, but with this embedded in the glass, it's just really really unusual and I just never found anything like it."
