New Glasgow man reported missing has been found safe

RCMP have located the 58 year-old New Glasgow man who was reported missing earlier Thursday.

A 58-year-old New Glasgow, P.E.I., man reported missing on Thursdayhas been located safely.

The man, whoNew Glasgow fire chief Jason Peters describes as "a good fellow," was last seen around noon. Shortly before 9 p.m., he was found andtaken tohospital in Charlottetownto be evaluated around 9 p.m.,Peters said.

"I know him personally, and I'm glad he's safe," he said.

RCMPdog services, about 20 New Glasgow Fire Department members,and around 35 to 40 Ground Search and Rescue personnel were all involved in the search, he said.

Health concern

Crews started searching byboatbefore a dog caught the man's scent, Peters said. There was some urgency to finding him because of a health concern, he said.

"There was a little issue there, and obviously finding him before dark was a big concern, too," Peters said.

'Glad it was over'

The people searching were primarily volunteers, arriving "in dribs and drabs when they come available," but made a full crew by the end of the day, he said.

The fire department would like to do some training with the search and rescue team, but hopefully no more searches, Peters said.

"Everyone was glad it was over," he said.
