PCs ready to begin search for permanent leader

The Island's PC Party is beginning the process of selecting a new leader.

The Island's PC Party is beginning the process of selecting a new leader.

First off will be announcing the timeline for a leadership convention. That is expected to be released this weekend at its annual general meeting.

Party president Pat Banks says interim leader Jamie Fox has done a good job, but the sooner a permanent leader is chosen, the better.

"It is difficult for a political party to make gains ... when you have an interim leader," he said. "As good a job as our interim leader is doing, we know that we need to have a permanent leader going forward to challenge the government in the next election."

The PC's last permanent leader was Rob Lantz, who resigned in September 2015.
