School enrolments will be one of the main topics at a meeting of P.E.I.'s Public Schools Branch board of directors Tuesday evening.

Data on enrolments, school capacity and population trends will be presented,a Public Schools Branch spokesperson said.

During a discussion of the issue in the P.E.I. Legislature in the spring, Education Minister Doug Currie expressed concern about how students are spread out in schools across the province. Some schools are overflowing and others are half empty.

He also noted some P.E.I. schools are more than 60 years old.

Curriesaiddiscussions on rezoning would be led by parents and district advisory councils.

At Tuesday's meeting the board is expected to give direction on what steps will be taken next.

The public meeting is at Three Oaks High School in Summerside, starting at 7:30 p.m.
