A youth mental health program started by two Dalhousie psychiatry professors has won a national innovation award.
The Strongest Families Institute is one of this year's winners of the Governor General's Innovation Award.
The online courses, offered in Atlantic Canada and Alberta, help families with children suffering from behaviour and anxiety problems.
Founders Dr. Patrick J. McGrath and Dr. Patricia Lingley-Pottie developed the program at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax. It expanded into P.E.I. in October 2015.
The P.E.I. government invests $100,000 annually into the program, and Bell Let's Talk announced in January a further $150,000 over the next four years.
