P.E.I.'s Unleashed Potential K9 Academy gets $16K from province

A dog-training school in Stratford, P.E.I., Unleashed Potential K9 Academy, has received $16,000 from Innovation P.E.I. as it marks its official opening as a government-recognized dog-training school.

A dog training school in Stratford, P.E.I., Unleashed Potential K9 Academy, has received $16,000 from Innovation P.E.I. as it marks its official opening as a government-recognized dog-training school.

The school offers puppy management, off-leash training, obedience training as well as training for dog trainers.

Owner, CEO and master trainer Duke Ferguson is from Brudenell, P.E.I.

"I've spent my entire life with dogs and training in many tasks for various jobs, such as policing and wildlife law enforcement with a K9 unit," said Ferguson in a news release.

"I can tell you learning is endless."

Supporting growth, job creation

Minister of Economic Development and Tourism Heath MacDonald said the government is committed to supporting small- and medium-sized businesses.

"We are committed to ensuring these businesses have access to resources that will allow them to expand, find new marketplaces, and create new jobs," said MacDonald.

The company has six locations in Canada and the U.S. including the Stratford school with plans to open three more this summer.
