The Military Family Resource Centre of P.E.I. is looking for a few more performers to fill out the bill of a virtual ceilidh planned for November.

Community support is extremely important for all of our armed forces families.- Margaret MacKenzie

The ceilidh will feature established performers such as Terry Kelly and the P.E.I. duo Emerald Junction, along with members of military family from across the country.

Margaret MacKenzie, virtual program co-ordinator for the Military Family Resource Centre of P.E.I., said the virtual ceilidh is a new idea for bringing military families together.

Connecting military families

Currently posted in Germany, she has personal experience of how difficult that can be. As a military spouse, she has been through 12 postings in the last 25 years, including 203 weeks of family separation.

"Community support is extremely important for all of our armed forces families," said MacKenzie.

"Every day I open my email and I'm more excited because I see this program has touched another military family."

Using a virtual platform, musicians connected to the ceilidh will be able to play or sing along with the performers. The end result will be recorded.

The ceilidh is scheduled for Nov. 24. Interested performers should email to MacKenzie before Sept. 30.
