Health PEI is asking visitors to Wedgewood Manor in Summerside, P.E.I., to stay home is they are feeling unwell to prevent the spread of gastrointestinal illness at the manor, a written release from the province said Monday.

The same visitor precautions also remain in place at Beach Grove Home in Charlottetown as gastrointestinal illness continues to be an issue there.

Officials remind visitors to all long-term care facilities and hospitals to clean their hands before and after entering a patient's room, a department, and as they come and go from facilities.

The situation will be reassessed and updated when there is a change, the release said.
