Flurries on Monday will be the harbinger of some real snowfall coming to P.E.I. overnight and into Tuesday.

It is the same system that caused blizzardlike conditions as well as tornadoes in the southwestern U.S. over the weekend. There is no threat of that severe weather in P.E.I.

Monday will be cloudy with flurries, winds at 20 km/h out of the north with gusts to 40, and a high near 0 C.

Overnight the real snow will start, with two or three centimetres falling and a low of -2 C.

Winds will pick up and the snow will continue Tuesday. The high will be near 0 C, and with winds of 40 km/h gusting to 70 in the afternoon there will be blowing snow affecting visibility around the province.

The snow will be mixed with ice pellets in the afternoon. A further 10 centimetres of snow is expected.
