Anne and Gilbert's You're Island Through and Through re-written by Knox family

A verse in The Guild's production of Anne and Gilbert will be re-written the Knox family.

CBC Radio's Island Morning received nearly a hundred entries in a contest to write a verse for the song You're Island Through and Through.

Nancy White, who co-wrote the original song, chose the winning entry, which goes:

If you spend more time goodbyeing just to find out who is who,

You're Island, you're Island through and through.

"I like that line, it really painted the picture of people leaving a party and you know the kind of people who just can't say goodbye and it goes on and on, and these people were trying to sort out who was related to whom and so on," said White.

Two runners up

While only one verse will be sung in the actual production, Island Morning chose two runners up in the contest.

Anne Crosby wrote the second place verse:

When you shovel out the driveway then you clear your neighbour's too,

You're Island, you're Island through and through.

The third place went to Kim Hendriken, who wrote:

If you're asked "How are ya doin'?" And you answer "Good and you?"

You're Island, you're Island through and through.
