Plans for Charlottetown's Art in the Open unveiled
5th annual Art in the Open culminates Aug. 29
A Charlottetown festival celebrating art inpublic spaces marksits fifth year this month.
Plans for the 5th annual Art in the Open were unveiled Tuesday.
Most of the art will be set up the city's public parks.
Festival co-curator Pan Wendt told CBC News the festival is about the importance of both art and public space.
"I think public space is something that's actually rapidly disappearing in many cities," said Wendt.
"Space is becoming privatized and this festival is really about celebrating, as much as the creativity of artists, it's about celebrating the idea of a free event in a public, free space."
The main event runs 4 pm to midnight on Aug. 29.
