It looks a little empty right now, but the City of Charlottetown is promising the playground at Victoria Park is soon going to be better than ever.

One of the play structures at the park has been removed, but it's to be replaced by new equipment currently being assembledat the city works garage.

It's costing about $45,000 to make, plus the price of the installation, and the city is hoping to have that in place within the next month.

Connaught Square revamp

Victoria Park isn't the only playground getting a facelift.

The city is also installing equipment at Connaught Square, including two swing sets, slides, climbing spaces and activity panels.

That's to bring the park back to a more traditional design, after people in the neighbourhood complained about modernclimbing and balancing structures put in place in 2014.

That project should be complete by the end of July.

Nine other parks in Charlottetown are getting new or replaced equipment this year, either swing sets or play structures.
