Police follow new clue in Carr slaying

Charlottetown police believe there may be a link between an unsolved 1988 slaying and a car theft that happened the same night.

Charlottetown police believe there may be a link between an unsolved 1988 slaying and a car theft that happened the same night.

Byron Carr was killed in November of 1988 in Charlottetown.

Police said Wednesdaya man by the name of George Smith reported his car stolen just hours before the slaying. He was living at 154 Richmond St. and police think there's a possibility the theft and Carr's death could be linked.

But police have not been able to find George Smith and the police record of the car theft doesn't exist anymore.

Anyone with information about Smith is asked to call Charlottetown police.

The unsolved slaying lay dormant for years, but police reopened it in 2007 in the hopes that new evidence could be uncovered.
