Province releases preliminary North River fish kill report

The provincial government has released a preliminary report about an August fish kill in the North River.

Report says there was heavy rainfall in the days before the dead fish were discovered

The provincial government has released a preliminary report about an August fish kill in the North River.

The report outlines the investigation and impact on the fish population. Itsays there was heavy rainfall in the days before the dead fish were discovered.

In total, 1,155 fish were recovered and it was estimated between 4,560 and 10,973 fish were killed. The species of fish includedtrout, salmon and sticklebacks.

Testing at the Atlantic Veterinary College showedno evidence of diseaseand concluded they died suddenly.

A final report will be issued when the investigation is complete.
