12,000 quahogs reported stolen from P.E.I. wharf

Police say they are looking for information on the theft of 12,000 quahaugs from Hickey's Wharf in Websters Corner, P.E.I.

About 12,000 shellfish were reported stolen from Hickey's Wharf in Websters Corner, P.E.I., some time between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. (RCMP)

Policeare looking for information on a report of 12,000 quahogs stolen from Hickey's Wharf in Websters Corner, P.E.I.

A shellfish harvester reported between 35 and40bags of quahogsbeing stored in mesh bags of various coloursalong the shoreline were stolen.

There were about12,000shellfish in the bags, estimated to bevalued at $1,950.

RCMPsaid the theft happenedbetween 5 p.m. Oct. 12 and 10 a.m. Oct. 13.

Police are askingthe public and business community to determine the source ofany quahogs being sold,and to contact them with any information.
