P.E.I. wants ideas for redeveloping Charlottetowns Queens Wharf.

The waterfront property near the new convention centre once housed the Coast Guard wharf at the end of Queen Street.

Foster Millar, project manager with the department of transportation and infrastructure renewal, said developers must detail their plans. That includes what buildings would look like and what theyll pay for the property.

We're seeking proposals from people that are interested in purchasing the land and the wharf from the government and redeveloping it for some new use, Millar said.

Including the wharf, which is the largest part of it, there is about three acres of surface that you could build on down there. It is certainly a very unique location and right on the waterfront in Charlottetown.

Proposals are due Aug. 6. A final decision should come by fall.
