RCMP on P.E.I. are taking to social media to get out the message about the dangers impaired driving.

It's a major campaign called No Excuses, which is also running in the rest of Atlantic Canada.

The campaign aims to highlight some of the excuses police officers hear from drunk drivers.

It's designed to get people to plan ahead when going out to celebrate the holiday season instead of making excuses for driving impaired.

Examples of the excuses are being sent out on Twitter and Facebook.

It's also National Safe Driving Week in Canada, and RCMP on P.E.I. are marking the event with some extra vigilance.

On Friday, National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day, drivers can expect to see multiple police check stops throughout the province.
