Regis and Kelly give P.E.I. rave reviews

Thousands of fans gathered in Charlottetown's Confederation Landing Park Monday to be part of the audience for Live! with Regis and Kelly, the popular American morning show.

The first of four shows to be produced from P.E.I. aired live Monday morning.

Some fans lined up from 8:30 p.m. on Sunday to get a front row seat.

Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa said they were impressed with what they have seen of the island.

"It's just been great for us," said Ripa. "I love it so much and I plan on coming back again and again."

Two more shows are being produced Tuesday.

The shows from P.E.I. have generated more response than any other remote broadcast, said executive producer Michael Gelman.

"You know, I'm afraid not too many people know about Prince Edward Island," Philbin said. "I never heard of it before we came up here and got involved. It really is gorgeous."

More people will no doubt know more about the island after this week. Earlier on Monday, P.E.I. ranked number two in the top Google searches in the United States.
