Salvation Army shelter open longer hours during storm

The Islands Salvation Army is preparing to extend its shelter hours and says anyone who needs a place to stay during the storm should contact them.

Bedford MacDonald House in Charlottetown opened earlier than usual on Wednesday to get people off the streets.

"We're going to monitor the situation with the weather overnight," said Jamie Locke, with the Salvation Army."Weve made preparations to extend our hours for tomorrow,so right now we plan to be open until (noon) ."

Anderson House, a shelter for women and children, says it can feed and house everyone duringthe storm.

The food bank and the soup kitchen in Charlottetown are closed.
