School bus incident prompts special action by RCMP on P.E.I.

RCMP on P.E.I. say they are taking the recent videoshowing the 'passing of a school bus' in Brookfieldvery seriously.And so they targeted the area Thursdaymorning.
Police saidfour unmarked police cars were sent to Route 2 in Brookfield to watch the situation.

In a one-hour period, they charged eight people for what they call blatant and aggressive driving behaviour.
One driver was charged with passing a school bus and was issued a ticket for $1,000 and eight demerit points.
Four drivers were caught for speeding, one for operating a motor vehicle while suspended, one for not having a valid inspection, and one for not wearing a seatbelt.
The suspended driver had his vehicle seized and towed from the scene.
"The passing of a school bus is inexcusable", saidQueens District Commander Staff Sgt.MarkCrowther. "Thisis about the safety of our children and drivers need to understand the gravity of what is happening."
"Drivers failing to stop in these situations put children's lives in danger."
RCMP are encouraging drivers to report incidents of passing a school bus to police.
